„One should never give up!”

Ágoston István is an 11th grader of the Backamadarasi Kis Gergely Reformed High School with Mathematics and Computer Science specialisation. Since he was born he has been living with his grandparents at Odorheiu-Secuiesc.
In terms of relaxation, István goes into the school’s gym with his friends. He says that he goes there two-three times a week, but it depends on his free time. It might happen that he is busy all week and can’t go.
Ágoston István: I used to play basketball, but because of the many lessons I have I stopped it. Nowadays I only go summer with some classmates to play something in the afternoon. I am very keen on computer and online programming; I often check these kinds of information at home.
Q: Have you ever taken part in voluntary activities? What motivated you?
Ágoston István: Unfortunately, I haven’t taken part in any voluntary activities yet, but I will do as soon as I get the opportunity. I consider cooperation very important, because this is the only way to create something big, something lasting in order to help others.
Q: Where, and at which university would you like to continue your education?
Ágoston István: To be honest, I am not sure about this: before I was thinking about Computer Science, but I am not sure if it’s worth working as a programmer. But I am more and more interested in psychology: I consider it interesting, but I don’t have a concrete aim with it.
Q: How do you see the future of the present youngsters?
Ágoston István: I think, for us, for the youth of today it would be important to remain purposeful. Let’s consider the Baccalaureate (final examination after graduating high school) „trailer” in 11th grade: it’s not a big deal if one doesn’t pass it, but if he puts effort in that particular subject, then on the real exam he will be able to succeed. It is very important: one should never give up otherwise the chance of success is zero.
Q: Do you consider remaining at your fatherland important?
Ágoston István: Yes, I think it is very important to try to earn the daily bread here, because unfortunately more and more people are leaving Transylvania and go abroad, and if the process continues I am not sure the city will be worthy of the name Székelyudvarhely (Odorheiu-Secuiesc)
Q: What does the foundation’s help mean to you?
Ágoston István: I would like to thank the foundation for the scholarship. It is a great help for me in the school to buy the necessary things, and a permanent motivation to have better and better results, and if something goes wrong, to start over until I reach my goal.
Q: What do you suggest the youngsters in search of their future career?
Ágoston István: It might sound casual, but I would like to suggest everybody to love their job, no matter what, because this way they won’t be working, but doing their hobbies for all of their lives.
