Gagyi Endre Botond

„How good helping each other is…”

gagyiendrebotond

Gyagyi Endre Botond was born in Odorheiu Secuiesc he lives in Ocna de Sus. He finished his first eight years in the Székely Mózes Grade School in Ocna de Sus, currently he is studying natural sciences in the Márton Áron High School in Miercurea Ciuc. He is in 11th grade.

Gagyi Endre Botond: I am most keen on watching movies and playing football. I am happy to spend my time with both: with the football I let off steam. After a good match I can concentrate much better on my homework. I like movies, because they take me out of the everyday life.

Q: Have you taken part in any voluntary activities? What motivated you?

Gagyi Endre Botond: My mother works at the Saint Francis Foundation; she takes care of poor children, educates and teaches them, so I also had possibility to do voluntary work. She is the director of a kindergarten with a lot of to do, so some help always comes in handy. I could experience how good helping each other is.

I am not sure about my future career yet, but I am thinking about the Faculty of Letters. I would like to work with children.

Q: How do you see the youngsters’ future? And what about yours?

Gagyi Endre Botond: In my opinion youngsters have the best opportunities to continue their studies, but this self-confidence lasts only until one graduates university, it isn’t sure at all that he will get a job. That’s why a lot of young people go abroad to try their luck, unfortunately. I consider remaining at the fatherland very important, if I have the opportunity, I would like to work here.

Q: What does the foundation’s help mean to you?

Gagyi Endre Botond: The foundation’s help means a lot to me, because my parents have a lot of things to pay for me and my sister. The family’s income is little, so we really need the help of the dr. Verestóy Attila Foundation.

Q: What is your message for youngsters ahead of choice of career?

Gagyi Endre Botond: The only thing I would like to suggest youngsters ahead of choice of career is that they should choose something that they would enjoy to do their whole life. Whatever they work, do it with heart and soul.

Kedves Emese

„I am grateful for being one of the few people who are supported by the foundation…”

kedves_emese

My name is Kedves Emese. The place I like the most is Sândominic because of the many memories I have since I grew up here. I have three siblings and I am very grateful to the fate for giving them to me. I am happy to be part of a big family. I am studying in the Márton Áron High School with natural sciences specialization in the 11th grade.

Q: What attracted you to choose natural sciences?

Kedves Emese: From the natural sciences Biology attracted me the most, that’s why I chose this specialization. Today also Chemistry is one of my favourites. However Biology is the one, which has the first place of my imaginary list, because it deals with living things, which always change. I am amazed by natural sciences, which are why I like them so much.

Q: Did you get what you had expected?

Kedves Emese: I think I would lie if I told that I got what I had expected, but in whole I can say that I am lucky for succeeding in most of the things. I feel really good in this school, it is a challenge to stand your ground at this specialization.

Q: What do you do in your free time?

Kedves Emese: I spend most of my free time with my siblings and friends. If I have time I read, mostly something related to psychology.

Q: Your friends play an important role in your life...

Kedves Emese: What do my siblings mean to me? One would think that the oldest brother/sister educates the younger ones, but it isn’t entirely true, I mean I don’t consider it true. They thought me so many things that I couldn’t describe in a few phrases. A force connects us, not the name and the physical appearance, not even the blood, but the fact that we are one group, that together we are a whole, and together we can deal with anything. They play a very important role in my life, they mean security and relief.

Q: One year left, and you have to graduate. Have you thought of further education?

Kedves Emese: Yes, I thought of it.

Q: Biology?

Kedves Emese: I think so, but I am not sure about the future?

Q: What does the foundation’s help mean to you?

Kedves Emese: The foundation’s help means security to me. It is an important factor to be able to manage every day.I am grateful for being one of the few people who are supported by the foundation. I wish health and strength for all the people working at the foundation, to be able to do their job with self-dedication as they have been doing in the last years.

Tímár Rita

„It encourages me to dream big, because regarding this I am not more under privileged than others…”

timar_rita

I am Tímár Rita from Sândominic. We are four in the family; I have a sister who is one year younger than me. I am a senior in the Segítő Mária High School with natural sciences specialization.

Q: According to your specialization you must be more into science subjects…

Tímár Rita: Well, yes, I am more into science subjects. My favourite ones are Chemistry and Biology, that’s why I chose this specialization. But I also like literature and Hungarian grammar. I read a lot; I like to analyze different works, to read poems and to keep up with the contemporary art-literature, painting, music.

Q: You took part in many competitions, which were these, and what results did you achieve?

Tímár Rita: I take part mostly in Hungarian grammar and literature competitions: orthography competition (Implom József II.place in the county, country mention, XX.place in the Pannonian Basin), literature competition (II.place in the county), Aranka György competition (country mention), Kőrösi Csoma Sándor competition (II.place in the country).

In 9th and 10th grade I also took part in Chemistry competitions (III.place in the county), Religion competition (II.place in the county).

Q: You are very active beside school as well. What do you do in your free time?

Tímár Rita: Beside my school activities I am also a scout, which is not about killing time, or a free time activity, it is a life style, a profession. I would like to take up a co-leader training, so I could found a scout group in the village as well (in the team in my school I help the team-leader in carrying out activities and organizing trips). I take part in various voluntary activities (Szeretetmorzsa by the Caritas) because I am a scout, and a scout helps where he can.

Beside I am also member of the Fokoláré movement from Miercurea-Ciuc, we organize different activities and meetings with youngsters who aim to achieve unity between religions and churches. We also took part in a world meeting in Genfest, where approximately 12000 youngsters took part from all around the world talking about their experiences how can one live in a community helping others, paying attention to others.

Q: I suppose that your main goal now is the final exam? What are the plans after?

Tímár Rita: After the final exam I would like to continue my education in Cluj-Napoca at the Biology Department. I am also interested in studying abroad, health and nutrition in Denmark.

Q: Why this specialization?

Tímár Rita: I am interested in Biology, because I like botany and anatomy. Studying these two fields I would like to learn about what plants contain, so I could learn how they affect human body. That’s why health and nutrition is interesting for me, and dietetics, because I could learn how to prevent diseases by healthy lifestyle-and I am not thinking about only healthy diet, but also life style and thinking. I think by learning about plants I could find answers for my questions, and by the help of microbiology I could do researches, which is also very challenging.

Q: These plans are about your near future, but which are your further plans you would like to carry out during or after university?

Tímár Rita: One of them is studying abroad, including languages. I would also like to take the driving test and to found a scout team. I would like to take every opportunity to make friends, so I would like to travel a lot-including places where people need help, education, care, medical care, for example Africa.

I would like to dance folk dance, to learn how to crochet, and how to make accessories out of “nemez”-during university. In other words I would like to pay more attention to traditions.

In the same time after taking part in the Genfest, beside all the experiences, I became motivated to achieve unity. This experience strengthened my opinion, it gave me a set of values and it encourages me to do for the community, for the people known and new to me, to do every task with love, to be curious, and open-minded about every new thing, opportunity.

Q: What does the foundation’s help mean to you?

Tímár Rita: If I say that the foundation’s help means a lot to me I am not even close to the truth. By its help I can pay for the student residence, I can take part in field trips, competitions and trainings. In my free time I can go to theatre, concerts and swimming. I could go to Genfest, to Budapest. The foundation helps me to advance, learn, and meet youngsters from different cultures. It encourages me to dream big, because regarding this I am not more under privileged than others. Thank them for their work which helps us advance in life. What they do is valuable, they grant us the future, they show example, they encourages us to be better. I thank the employees of the foundation for their work in the name of all my fellows.
