Ádám Szidónia
„Fight for your dreams!”

Ádám Szidónia graduated for high school in 2009 in Gheorgheni. After the finals she started working in order to earn the daily bread: she had two jobs simultaneously. She says that she feels the best at home, and one can stand one’s ground here as well. “It’s not easy, but it is possible” – she adds.
Ádám Szidónia: I worked three years in hospitality, and in 2012 I decided that I could do more. At the moment I am living in Cluj-Napoca, and I am studying social work at Babeș-Bolyai University. Why do I study here? Because I feel like I can accomplish myself in this field, in my life I gained competences which can be used in social work.
Q: Do you have time for your hobbies?
Ádám Szidónia: Not much, but I still have some. I love the theatre, if I can I go. I feel very well there. In the everyday rush the theatre refills me with energy.
Q: Have you already take part in voluntary activities?
Ádám Szidónia: I am a volunteer at the Christian Foundation Diakónia: I help elementary students in their homework, and we play together in our spare time.
Q: How do you see the youngsters’ future?
Ádám Szidónia: It is an interesting question. I don’t really know... What I noticed is that not all the youngsters have the same opportunities in life. Unfortunately.
Q: Do you consider standing your ground at your fatherland?
Ádám Szidónia: Yes, I consider it important. One can’t just simply leave his fatherland; we have to work for our happiness. According to the saying: Everywhere is good but home is the best. This is the place where I feel good; this is the place where I feel the most at home. You can also stand your ground here as well. It’s not easy, but it is possible.
Q: What is your message for youngsters ahead of choice of career?
Ádám Szidónia: My message is the following: do not hurry, first try out what you really like. The most important is to have self-confidence, to fight for your dreams!
Q: What does the foundation’s help mean to you?
Ádám Szidónia: It means a lot. I always worked for the things I had, I have never really received any help. Now I know what it feels like to have some help, if you have a stable point in your life. During the exams I didn’t need to think about what to eat, I could study, I could go to voluntary activities. I could do what I liked and wanted. Thanks the foundation for its trust. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to study.
